About Dr Rostafinski
Dr. Thomas J. Rostafinski is a clinical psychologist licensed in the State of Illinois since 1984. He graduated from Ohio University (Athens) with a doctorate of philosophy (Ph.D.) in clinical psychology in 1981. He also holds a master’s degree in clinical psychology from Ohio University and a bachelor’s degree from Reed College (Portland, Oregon). The clinical psychology training program at Ohio University has been and remains accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). He also studied at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland, where his great-grandfather had once been professor of botany. This was made possible by a Kościuszko Foundation scholarship.
Dr. Rostafinski came to Chicago in 1980 and completed a pre-doctoral internship in general clinical psychology at Rush-Presbyterian-St Luke’s Medical Center (known today as Rush University Medical Center).
Since graduation he has worked as a clinical psychologist at Cermak Health Services (serving the Cook County Department of Corrections, Chicago), Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital in Chicago (where the Mental Health Center provides services in Polish and Spanish as well as English), Midwest Neuropsychiatric Associates in Chicago, and MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn.
During his internship Dr. Rostafinski held an appointment as Instructor at Rush University. He has since served on the faculties of the Forest Institute of Professional Psychology (Des Plaines, later Wheeling), the Illinois School of Professional Psychology (Rolling Meadows), the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, and most recently the Stritch School of Medicine, Loyola University Chicago, where he currently holds the position of Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences. He is also a member of the medical staff at Loyola University Medical Center.
Dr. Rostafinski has been in the private practice of clinical psychology in Oak Park, Illinois since 1984. He provides psychotherapy and other clinical services to adults in the Polish language, in which he is fluent, as well as in English.
Dr. Rostafinski is certified as Approved Consultant by the Americal Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH) and is a member of ASCH as well as these other professional societies:

Dr. Rostafinski is also a member and past president of the Chicago Society of Clinical Hypnosis (CSCH), a component section of ASCH.
Dr. Rostafinski’s interests include psychoanalysis, existential philosophy, culture and language, religions, art and literature, nature, photography, and creativity.
